Operations Update – Extreme Port Terminal Congestion at Port of Hamburg, Germany

Please be informed that the Port of Hamburg in Germany is currently experiencing a very high utilization rate at its container terminals due to the late arrivals of vessels caused by bad weather conditions and short-term re-routing. The port is also experiencing a storage shortage and higher container dwell times. Furthermore, road works are disrupting traffic around the port and causing delays in import and export container deliveries. Trucking companies have announced a Traffic Congestion Surcharge for all transportation to and from the port, and within Hamburg. This surcharge is expected to be effective in April 2014.
