Dammam Seaport Congestion

The Dammam Seaport has severe congestion, with thousands of containers either awaiting transfer for inspection or transfer to Riyadh Dry Port. This congestion is having a significant impact on vessel discharging times, internal port transfers, customs clearance and delivery cycle times and domestic transportation capacity. With no immediate solution in sight, we expect the situation will worsen, with delays continuing through Ramadan (July and August).

The Riyadh Dry Port also remains heavily congested, with lengthy container shuttling delays between Riyadh and Dammam and Riyadh and Jeddah. This is further compounded by the new traffic restrictions imposed in Riyadh, that prevent movement of all trucks between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. daily. As with Dammam, this congestion is having a significant impact on customs clearance and delivery cycle times.
