Canada Pacific Railway Suspends Canadian Rail Services

Yesterday, Canada Pacific Railway (CP) suspended its Canadian rail services after engineers, conductors, and rail traffic controllers of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) began a strike. Negotiations between the parties are still underway and should the negotiation be prolonged, the Canadian Labor Minister is readying possible back-to-work legislation.

The strike will not affect CP rail operations in the U.S.

While the full ramifications of this strike are unknown, there may be some congestion on Canadian rail going forward as carriers re-route cargo to other fully operational rail lines.

Agility, both in Canada and the U.S., will continue to monitor the situation through our contact with the carriers and we will keep you updated on the situation as new developments occur.
