Strike by German air traffic controllers on 9th August

German air traffic controllers have announced that they will stage a six-hour walkout tomorrow 9th August 2011. The union representing the controllers said no civilian flights would be handled in Germany between 06.00 and 12.00 hrs (local time).

Airlines have taken comprehensive measures in preparation for the strike action. Flights have been brought forward or delayed, so they can land at Frankfurt or take off from there before or after the strike period. Nevertheless, delays and disruptions, also as a result of cancellations affecting passenger services, cannot be ruled out completely in case of a strike.
