European Union Regulation 1875/2006 – Import Control System (ICS)

On 1 January 2011, the European Union (EU) will introduce the Import Control System (ICS), an electronic security declaration management system for the import of goods into the EU customs territory including Norway and Switzerland.

The new legislation will ensure the protection of import movements into and via the EU and requires carriers to submit an Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) to the EU customs office of first entry, before the merchandise enters the territory and in most

Agility will work closely with its customers to gather all required data and will ensure a timely submission of the Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) to customs authorities.

A delay in providing the required information could result in customs authorities delaying the shipment at either the port of entry or the port of origin.

To ensure a smooth implementation of this legislation, Agility is working closely with EU authorities and partners. This new legal requirement requires a significant investment in our IT infrastructure. As a result, an ENS filing fee will be implemented – we will provide further information on this subject as soon as possible.

We are committed to offer our customers and partners a smooth transition to this new system and thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Further information can be obtained via your local Agility office.
